Dear Journal!
It’s grande we finally meet! You know… Me writing into you. You listening (as if you had a choice and weren’t just an inanimate object… ). My father made you years ago so that I could take notes on everything going on in the archives, but I never felt quite inspired. Sorting book titles and writing down where to find them in the endless vault of knowledge never seemed to tickle my nerves quite as much as it did for my parents. While they would dig into literal piles of books, I was glued to the window, watching the people passing by, and imagined how their lives were as soon as they left the city walls.
But I must apologize for getting all excited with you without even introducing myself.
I am Temerius Green, and I’m about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime to explore every corner of Tormentosia! As the Son of the Master of the Archives in Coreheim, I’ve always felt like I’ve been at the beginning of a story for years. Always surrounded by books. Constantly indulging the tales written by others. Ever so invested in the lives of those who fully lived while I was tucked away behind shelves and scrolls and data.
But now, I’m ready to turn the page and explore what lies beyond the safety of the Shield that protects us, Coreborn, from the wrath of Sorgoth.
You see, there’s a whole world out there that I know nothing about! And the stories I’ve heard so far are as wild as a Genetics breath.
Some people say Sorgoth is a giant creature, winged and with claws. Others believe it’s more like a force of nature. And then there’s the guy who thinks it’s just a bunch of Jibblings in a giant costume – I mean, really?
But that’s just the tip of the iceberg! Nosmerians – data-obsessed people of the dark who don’t want someone like me snooping around their secrets. Dinosaurs roaming the streets. Children of the source who could take your eye out with just a single drop of water. Crystallized Humanoids, hard as diamonds and still able to move as if made of flesh and bone…
And don’t even get me started on the Genetics with their multiple limbs. Imagine all the writing you could accomplish with an extra arm!
I may not be the bravest soul under the Shield. Still, I’m not going to let that stop me from exploring every nook and cranny of this incredible continent. There’s so much to discover, and I can’t wait to document it all. I will write about it, draw pictures, map out the world, and bring it all back home with me. Add it to our archives and create my own story amongst all those who came before me and ended up neatly sorted and admired by my parent and all those who visit us for knowledge on life on Tormentosia.
So, buckle up, dear Journal! You’re about to join me on an epic adventure, from Coreheim to Ambros and beyond! I’m off to buy some bags – because, let’s face it, a true adventurer needs good luggage. And I guess the first backpack my mother got me when I first enrolled in school doesn’t quite hit the mark for such a great venture. So I think it’s time. I’m heading out there!
